Black Cat Pictures is an independent film and tv production company, focussing on original and innovative horror and comedy feature length productions.
Founded by Alasdair Macleod, an award-winning writer and producer from the Outer Hebrides, hailed as a pioneer of Gaelic cinema for his groundbreaking work in bringing the language and culture to a global audience. His acclaimed Gaelic-language short films have earned multiple awards, establishing him as a key voice in the evolution of Gaelic storytelling on screen.
In 2011, Alasdair wrote, directed, and produced Amy Goes to College, a micro-budget found-footage slasher horror feature, showcasing his ability to create compelling work with limited resources. Currently, he is honing his craft at the prestigious National Film & Television School, solidifying his place among the UK’s most promising creative talents.
Beyond his film work, Alasdair brings extensive leadership experience, having successfully managed large-scale, high-impact projects across both the public and private sectors, including overseeing the £4 billion City Region Deal programme. This combination of creative vision and strategic expertise sets him apart as a filmmaker capable of delivering bold and ambitious projects.
